Young Concert Artists, a leading classical music non-profit dedicated to searching broadly to discover and launch the careers of extraordinary young musicians, is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, organized, collaborative and motivated individual to join the Development team as a Development Coordinator. 

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, and providing key support to the Senior Development Manager, the Development Coordinator will be an integral part of a dedicated Development department of six charged with raising $3.5 million annually as well as managing a new endowment campaign, and a full team of 18 staff members that takes pride in serving exceptional artists and helping to bring more music into the world. YCA’s range of activities includes presenting 15-20 public concerts in New York and Washington, DC, the annual Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, two annual Galas, donor cultivation events, robust fundraising activities, ongoing marketing and communications work, and a thriving Artist Management Department.  Each year, YCA facilitates more than 900 external performance engagements including 300 education and community engagement activities for the YCA roster artists.  

For over 65 years, YCA has identified and nurtured extraordinary young musicians who possess world-class artistry, having helped launch nearly 300 careers of leading classical musicians working in every corner of our industry. YCA provides the essential performance opportunities, mentorship, tools, and infrastructure artists need to take their careers to the highest levels and to lead the future of classical music.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage gift acknowledgments, and prepare other key donor communications including solicitation letters and reports. 
  • Coordinate communications, stewardship efforts, and support event planning for two growing patron groups at YCA - the Advisory Council and the Legacy Society.
  • Perform donor and prospect research and maintain accurate donor records in Neon One (donor database). 
  • Support the execution of mailings and e-communications for fundraising appeals and special events throughout the season. 
  • Support the planning and execution of special events and participate in development events as needed, including occasional evenings.
  • Support efficient operations for the development team including expense tracking and maintaining departmental systems and files.
  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Development Officer and Senior Development Manager as needed. 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience, non-profit development or cultural organization experience preferred
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, productive, and driven towards results
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and effectively with colleagues to move projects forward
  • High degree of professionalism and comfort with communicating with donors and VIPs
  • Fluency with office software and technology including Google Suite and donor data systems
  • Background in classical music a plus, love of music required! 

YCA’s offices are located at 57th and Broadway in NYC.  YCA currently operates with a hybrid model of 3-days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and 2-days working remotely (Monday and Friday).   This individual must be able to come to the Manhattan office 3 days a week. There will be occasional work in the evenings and weekends.  This position may involve very limited travel outside of NYC.

Salary range: $62,000 - $68,000.
